The central highlight on Sunday lunchtime will be played by Ingo Spät aka Horst Schneider (guitar and vocals), Susi Heimkehrer (saxophone and piano), Atze from Eddy & the Backfires (double bass) and Flash Ostrock (drums). This is the newly formed Horst Schneider Quartet.
There are the old German-language Spätheimkehrer songs (two albums 1992, 1993 on Diva Records, Hamburg) in the style of Paul Würges and Peter Kraus, a small selection of good Bill Billy & his Fabulous BillBilies songs (1997, BlueArt, Hamburg), I remember here "Bring Elvis back.... and Buddy Holly too"...) and also a few Helldriver songs that fit into the German-language 50s rock'n'roll hit concept.
It took a few years - and now it's finally working. Don't miss it!
The third day at and in the Astoria Hall started at 12.00 noon. Haunted Rhythm, who were founded in the Ruhr area in 2019, kick off in the afternoon (after the Seebühne) outside on the Chicken Shack and the starting signal for a musical Sunday evening with rock'n'roll, dancing and good humor has been given.
Haunted Rhythm - that's: Martin Manneck (ex-Jailbirds), Mario Oehlmann (Foggy Mountain Rockers), Jack Ebbers (ex-Boptails) and Marcus Lange (Mark Twang Trio). Their music is their own interpretation of unknown rock'n'roll / rockabilly songs from the 50s and 60s. They deliberately refrain from covering well-known songs.
Haunted Rhythm's own compositions are an important and growing part of their repertoire. With this quartet, we present four well-known and active scene warhorses in their current band.
The show continues on the Chicken Shack Stage with McKinley James.
What immediately catches the ear is the fusion of Motown soul and blues-based guitar playing. His sound differs from what we are used to from traditional blues interpreters. Instead, he is reminiscent of a guitarist who has mastered chord theory so well that you sometimes think you are listening to a horn section.
While guitar stores echo with the licks of modern blues guitarists who can't tell the shuffle from shinola, McKinley would go into the store and invoke the spirits of his own idols, almost forgotten pioneers like Otis Rush and Little Milton. One thing's for sure: when McKinley James gets going, it's going to be very special.
It doesn't help - I can only repeat myself: DON'T MISS IT!
We have prepared something special for this Sunday's evening program to really fire up the atmosphere.
The Del Bombers from France will really heat you up. Driven by a shared desire to play traditional rockabilly music with a pinch of rock'n roll, double bassist Ritchy (Christian Fouchereaux) and singer Richard Nola (Red Roosters, Backleg Breakers) founded the Del Bombers in June 2023 together with guitarist Sébastien Le Saux and drummer Rolem Hebbache.
Although the Del Bombers were only founded a year and a half ago, the musicians are no newcomers to the scene - and are already enjoying great popularity and demand. Their concert in Walldorf will be their first international appearance. They are very much looking forward to inspiring and enthralling you. Be there and create the best atmosphere together when the Del Bombers make their debut at the Walldorf Weekender 2024.
It all began in March 1993, when "the legendary cat" of the Portuguese rockabilly scene, Wildcat Shaker, founded the Texabilly Rockers in Lisbon, Portugal. 30 years later, now as the Texabilly Rockets with numerous releases (7 albums on Part Records) and hundreds of gigs nationally and internationally, the Texabilly Rockets are still thrilling audiences with their wild, infectious rockabilly bop sound.
This year, the Texabilly Rockets are celebrating their 30th anniversary as a band with numerous appearances at various festivals in different European countries. And they are currently recording a new album.
Always a guarantee for the best entertainment - both on and off stage: WildCat Shaker (vocals and double bass), Oscar Gomes (lead guitar), Duarte Vincent (drums) and Ruben El Pavoni (acoustic guitar and harmonica).
Over the last few years, Si Cranstoun and his band have steadily climbed the ladder of the retro scene and have become one of the top acts on the market. Almost all of his concerts are sold out and fans line up around the block hours before admission!
Si used to be one half of the dynamic duo "The Dualers" (two UK Top 30 hits "Kiss On The Lips" and "Truly Madly Deeply"). As a teenager he was trained by a grand master of songwriting, Grammy award-winning Graham Lyle (who has written hits for Michael Jackson and Tina Turner).
- our local rockabilly hero from Ludwigsburg. Neo-Rockabilly at its best!
Many years of friendship and various joint musical projects in the past have welded this band trio together since the end of 2001.
Their special sound can be traced back to over 30 years of musical stage experience and the various styles they have collected as a result. The Pinstripes shine with their own compositions but also with modern cover versions.
This band not only impresses with its musical skills, but also with its varied and energetic stage show - they keep Rock'n Roll alive!
